Girls’ soccer beat Minnechaug 1-0 tonight at Worcester State University to capture the Division 1 State Championship.
After regulation and two overtime periods, the game remained scoreless and went to penalty kicks. Senior Maddie Bledsoe managed to save four of six penalty shots and junior Katie Nugent put home the clinching goal.
This is the first time the team has won the championship since 1999.
