Marathoner and South alumnus Leo Westebbe ’11 led a running clinic Saturday called Run Leo Run, which was open to anyone age eight and older and was held at this school’s indoor track.
Former Weymouth cross country coach and this year’s Coach of the Year in the Massachusetts All-Star League also helped lead the event, along with a researcher at the Division of Sports Medicine at Children’s Hospital, Charles D’Hemecourt and staff from the Newton Schools Foundation.
The NSF’s website called this opportunity “prime preparation for young and old alike” who plan to run the Heartbreak Hill Road Race Sunday, April 15, which, according to Newton Community Pride’s website is a one-mile race for “youngsters, adults and families.”
NSF staff member Jessica Souke, who helped organize the event, said that attendees participated in a warm up lap, basic stretching, drills on the proper form of running and learned cool down techniques.
She said that 43 people showed up for the clinic, all ages eight to thirteen.
