Girls' hockey falls to Weymouth

by Ryan Condon
Girls’ hockey fell to 1-12-1 for the season yesterday after a 4-3 loss to Weymouth.  The squad played strongly but made critical mistakes at important times, according to coach Robert MacDougal.
“We just couldn’t establish momentum,” MacDougall said. “Every time we scored, Weymouth would respond with the tying goal pretty quickly.”
The team’s third line, consisting of junior Olympia Diamantopolous, sophomore Leah Howard and freshman Leah McDade played exceptionally well, according to MacDougall. “They did a great job of providing our team with a spark,” he said. “They broke the puck out of our end consistently and because of that, we were able to generate offensive opportunities.”
Macdougall said he hopes the team can learn from this game going forward by preventing mistakes and paying attention to detail. “This was a game where our little mistakes came back to haunt us,” he said. “If we remember that, we can win more close games like these.”
