School’s purpose is to teach students skills they can use later in life.
Learning about the stock market, which affects everyone’s life, is one of these skills.

At Bigelow Middle School, there is an elective called the Stock Market Game in which students receive virtual money to spend on stocks for four months. The winner is the student who gains the most virtual money.

Because the stock market is so important, this school should host a school-wide virtual stock market game similar to the one at Bigelow Middle School.

This school has an investment club, which invests real money in the stock market and hopes to hold a stock market exchange at this school. All students should participate in a stock market game like the one the investment club plans to host.

Currently, I play a stock market game with a dozen of my friends. The game is fun and informative because I get to compete with my friends and make virtual investments based on real-world markets and stocks.  The game is an important teaching tool all students should use because it informs high schoolers about real-world financial situations in a fun and engaging way.

Because the stock market affects the economy and people’s wallets, this school should hold a school-wide stock market game, which would provide incentives for students to do well, while teaching students about the stock market.
