Girls’ tennis, 3-2, has had a low start highlighted by close and tough matches.
According to senior Sammy Marcus, a captain with seniors Taylor Lord and Cari Daniels, the Tigers are still happy with the start to the season.
“We are off to a great start. We have a lot of strong players who are new this year and we can only get better as the season goes on” she said.
After the season started off with a loss to Framingham, the team bounced back in its second game, beating Natick 5-0.
According to Lord, this year’s team consists of strong, new players.
“We got a lot of really good new players. Our starting varsity line-up consists of three of theses new players, who have melded into the team chemistry really well,” she said.
According to Marcus, the team’s main goal for the season is to have the strongest lineup possible.
“We have a lot of talented players who can play in any spot but as the season progress we will eventually have a clearer understand of what will makes us the strongest team possible,” she said.
Daniels said that this year’s team has a lot of new players who are good, and team chemistry will be key to success.
“Tennis is a very individual sport so it is important to support each other if we want to be successful,” she said.
Lord also added that the Tigers are excited to go far into the state tournament this year.
“We have always gotten out in the first round these past couple of years, so the goal is to go further,” she said.
