The game remained close throughout the first two quarters. The Tigers were up by one at the half, leading 28-27.
“There’s a familiarity out there with these kids. They all know each other so it’s such a competitive game,” coach Paul Connolly said.
It was not until the fourth quarter that the Tigers began to dominate and build a 15 point lead. Although the Tigers gained a lead, the game remained a defensive matchup with steady back and forth action.
“Every time we play South it’s gonna be a battle for sure,” said senior Brett Stanton, a captain with seniors Sam Jefferson and Tommy Mobley. It’s a rivalry game. I think this time we just really stepped up at the beginning of the second half and we were able to pull away.”
At the post-game press conference, team manager Brendan Durkin said, “I think its good right now but we got to keep it up. Our heart is out there, we just gotta keep the faith.”

“We’re happy with the win,” Stanton said. “But coach mentioned last week that some of these close games could have gone either way. We were able to step up and make the plays, but we know basketball is a fragile thing. We’ve got to bring it every day.”
Connolly praised his team for helping numerous players to step up and take risks.
“There are a lot of things that are opening up for some of our other players and we’re seizing that,” Connolly said.
“I’m really happy with my team. I’ve got a terrific group.”
