During C-Block Friday of Black Culture Day, hosted by this schools Black Leadership Advisory Council (BLAC), Jubilee Singers performed multiple songs. Andy Reid, Jubilee’s director related the songs to the African Diaspora.

“We love performing, and I think that Reid did a good job showing the school the different kinds of music we learn about and perform”, said junior Jonathan Gomolka.

BLAC officer Sam Jones appreciated Reid’s effort to connect their songs to Black Culture Day.

“I liked that Mr. Reid incorporated a lesson into the performance. We hadn’t asked him to do anything specific, we just left it to him and he really made the block that much better by adding that information to what they were doing,” said Jones.

According to senior Will Champion, the performance was a success.

“I think it went very well. It was one of the most well attended events in the theatre I’ve ever seen, including Theatre Ink shows,” said Champion.

BLAC decided to incorporate the Jubilee performance because “We knew they were a talented group that people enjoyed seeing. Their concerts are always popular and they bring so much energy to the stage and that’s something we wanted to incorporate into Black Culture Day,” said Jones.
