Girls’ Volleyball, 18-1, defeated Cambridge Rindge and Latin, 17-5, three sets to none in a dominant victory for the Tigers during the MIAA Sectional Semifinal, where “steady attacking” and “serving and passing” were the difference makers, according to head coach Richard Barton, on Thursday, Nov. 9.
Overall, the Tigers played exceptionally, winning in the first set 25-15, the second set 25-10, and the final set 25-19. “Our serving was really tough, we were hitting hard, and overall, we just kept our energy up,” said senior Mishka Legatova, who committed to play at Fresno Pacific University that morning, a captain with seniors Olivia Kelly, Julia Lanfear, and Jessie Yang.
Legatova commented on the camaraderie of the team by adding, “We all have one goal, and that is to win, so our bond really pushes us towards that goal.”
After the Tigers’ 3-0 win against King Philip in the MIAA Sectional Final, the team advanced to the State Semifinal game against MIAA South Division Champions Barnstable. Moving forward, Legatova said, “We want to be more consistent, stay aggressive, and overall stay as a good team.”
The Tigers play Barnstable Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Taunton High School in the MIAA State Semifinal game.
